|
ANCHOR - "relations of violence"
(REFUSE) - 3e, 180 den.
"Relations of Violence" brings a darker, but also more intenseapproach
to what the band has done before. There's still a strong 90's hardcore
influence in there, but we can definitely also hear some influences
from the best cuts of Swedish hardcore punk history (for example,
bands like Anti-Cimex) or recent dark heavier bands like Cursed. It's
all served up in original and unique way, sounding like a perfect
combination with a powerful impact where message and content is still
important |

With dozens, maybe even dozens of dozens of releases under their belts
dating as far back as the 80's. Enough said. SMG are Malaysia's grind
glory men and they pay homage to their mince friends with an AG cover.
For fans of INTESTNIAL DISEASE, AGx, and CORNUCOPIA. |
|
AMONG THE MISSING/ BUMSNOGGER - "bum
the missing" (CALCULON) - 5e, 300 den.
Side A is taken up by Bumsnoggers contribution and is a great progression
from their debut EP And Destroy All Those That Come Before Us. Its
just fucking nasty. Two great examples of how a combination of strong
booze and a bad attitude can result in gloriously loud and filthy
music. Bumsnogger may have an appalling name, but their twisted sludge
is guaranteed to send you creaming towards the off-licence. Among
The Missing are altogether darker and more unhinged, like a council
estate Black Flag whacked out on 'ludes. Doom-laden fun for all the
family. |
|
ANTIBODIES - "concrete rockers go uptown"
(CHOKING HAZARD) - 3e, 180
den.
Antibodies are from the UK and sound like something off of Dangerhouse
Records... there are elements of the dark punk of the Dead Kennedys,
the Weirdos or even the UK Subhumans. If you think that the Regulations
nailed the late 70s California sound then get this for a serious reality
check. |
|
ANTICHRIST/ DYSMORFOBIA - split (TRUJACA

"Another stellar release from Leicester's Brain Dead, although
if you've got their previous releases, you pretty much know what you're
going to get, which is pissed off, negative, Infest-style hardcore
that stops and starts all over the place. This time round there's
an anti-religious bent to the lyrics." |

CAVE IN - "anchor" (MAGIC
BULLET) - 2.5e, 150 den.
ANTENNA's first single "Anchor" plus the rarity "Harmless,
Armless" AKA "Minus World" |
|
CHARGER/ BLACK EYE RIOT - split (CALCULON)
- 4e, 230 den.
This limited coloured vinyl brings together Stoke-On-Trent sludge
giants Charger and the harsh-punk of Swansea's Black Eye Riot.
- Charger's "the amputee" opens at a furious pace which
is opposed to their usual lurching sludge. The cacophonous vocals
rage over the raw production before the song devolves into a dirge
that reminds me of Fistula and gives me the sensation of being crushed.
after the song has ended it is like a bomb has gone off and feedback
is all that remains in the smoky aftermath.
- Black Eye Riot's two tracks are pure unadulterated hardcore punk
violence - a collision of aggro, bruises and bitterness. "Battered
by elephants" is like Discharge on crack trying to control a
gas tanker with no brakes - loud and lethal. the production is of
similar quality to their full length and couldn't be more suited to
the band's style. i made some notes while listening to this and the
final comment was "ear holes have been raped"... Load of
Noise Magazine. |
|

dark edge violence VS fastcore with thrash metal breakdowns |
|
CRESTFALLEN - s/t - 3.5e, 200 den.
Five high-energy tracks of fast and passionate punk-influenced metallic
hardcore. Good ol' fist-raising, circle-pit-inducing music at it's
finest with an undeniable grind influence and plenty of epic melodic
parts to keep you on your toes, and guest vocal apperances from VA's
finest (Pig Destroyer's JR Hayes, pageninetynine's Chris Taylor).
The beautiful and haunting artwork is housed in a gatefold paperboard
pack and perfectly conveys the youthful energy put into this recording.
Members of pg99 played on this, and members of Crestfallen went on
to form/join Wildildlife, Heavens, Pygmy Lush, Haram, Dead To Me,
C-Rex, Hollywood and about a million more. |
|
CRITIC/ DEVICES - split (ATTACK
NOW) - 2.5e, 150 den. |
|
CRITICAL PICNIC - "second"
(COWABUNGA) - 4e, 230 den.
"2nd and sadly last record from these Orange County boys. If
you were offended by the hilarity of the 1st one, you'll probably
be offended again unless you can actually take a joke. Song titles
like 'Homeless Pollution' and 'No Fat Chicks' says plenty,, rules!
If you need a comparison, sorry we can't give it to you, they are
just awesome loud and trashy hardcore punk and it sounds obscure so
already thats amazing." |
|

Is Gone. New edition of 400 copies. |
|
CROWD CONTROL/ MOB RULES - split (SUBURBAN
MAYHEM INDUSTRIES) - 4e, 230 den.
Dublin heretics CROWD CONTROL deliver thre songs of almost primal
force here, that manages to somehow be heavy without being metal and
blindingly fast without being grindcore. Gutteral, god-hating hardcore
punk. MOB RULES from Leeds in England get the "power violence"
tag thrown at them a lot of the time, but we're not going to make
it that easy - think a rabid intersection of frantic speed, noise
damaged riffing, and tense delivery and you're there. Probably the
best band in the UK right now |
|
CROWPATH/ SUBMERGE - split (SHOGUN)

C: The Swedes deliver a long epic sludgy song, not typical of their
usual sound. S: 3 songs of their original High On Fire X Disclose

|
DE NOVISSIMIS/ TUNGUSKA - split (DIY
CONSPIRACY) - 3e, 180 den.
"Fucking great split single with two bands that were new to me,
Tunguska and De Novissimis. Both bands share the same city; Dublin,
Ireland. The side I put on first was the one from De Novissimis, which
blew me away with some very grimm vocals on top of dark, powerfull,
blasting sludgy metal riffs. When the song reaches its middle point,
they crack down in some slow, meaty sludge core that has the right
atmosphere: negative, evil and heavy. De Novissimis only provide one
song on their side, but it's a ferocious one. On the other side we
find Tunguska, who share two songs with us. Just like De Novissimis
I have the feeling that Tunguska wants to let the world/scene know
what they're capable of. Result: no filler, all killer. The two songs
of brutal, metallic hardcore has the same powerfull blasting capacity
as their compagnons on the split. Tunguska speed everything up though.
Pretty fast riffing and bombastic, yet fast drumming. Sometimes the
atmosphere from their two songs reminded me of Buried Inside etc.
At the end of the second song they include some more melodic, higher
pitched guitars too (yet they stay brutal). Awesome 7"."

Six songs pressed on two red vinyl 7" records. The gatefold cover
is a booklet featuring twenty-four illustrated pages of demonology
and necromancy, printed on hand burned parchment and vellum paper.
Six hundred and sixty six of these have been made. Honestly, this
is the coolest record ever made before the needle even hits. |

|
DIVORCE - s/t (TSUNAMI) - 3e,
180 den.
Fast Southern-bred grind on the punk side of the fence, from Athens,
Georgia. Dual vocals, which alternate, high and low; blasting drums:
distorted riffs (quality style I might add); negative, frustrated
lyrics: everything needed for a damn good grinding time. Get these
boys some of that Swedish Grind production, I bet they would make
for some great big huge monsters of grind then (think Godzilla size). |
|
DREADEYE - "this is for the newbreed"
(WD SOUND) - 4e, 230 den.
amazing band from japan, sludgy hardcore, very recommended! |
|
DRY ROT - "hairless" (HOME
INVASION) - 6e, 360 den.

the upcoming debut LP "Philistine", and two others. Limited
to a one time pressing of 500. |
|
DRY-ROT - "subordinate" (PAINKILLER)
- 5e, 300 den.
These spiritual creeps from southern California knocked our socks
off last year with their self released Permission 7". Cues were
taken from the likes of Die Kreuzen, Void, and the oft neglected United
Mutation, to name a few, with the lyrical content focusing on the
most vile and sick aspects of real life. This new ep is a concept
record detailing a true incident of slavery in recent times. This
is truely feel-BAD music. |
|
EDDY CURRENT SUPPRESSION RING - "demon's
demands" (IRON LUNG) - 5e, 300 den.
These two songs are totally hypnotic, engaging, garage(ish) rave-ups
that transcend convention and genre expectation. |
|
EDWOOD - s/t (PERCE OREILLE) - 2e,
120 den.
french punk/hc band who mix fast and short songs with some more complex
with an ‘’emo’’ or ‘’r’n’r’’
touch. Female/male vocals and some saxo parts. Lyrics talk about sexism,
exploitation and all that kind of happy things.
‘’ this is a very unique band from France that combines
a few different styles. They are female fronted using a combination
of soothing vocal melodies over slow tempo almost new wave music with
saxophones combined with a faster paced 80’s punk sound with
a bit of screamed, but not harsh vocals. It’s a nice change
of pace and a good way to get their strong socio/political lyrics
across to people who may not like the grind/crust/trash type of thing.
All of the songs are sung in French with translations in german, Spanish,
English and two other language that I’m not quite sure of with
a cover of ‘’bienvenue sur terre’’ by la fraction
thrown in for good measure. Very nice indeed.’’ Profane
existence n°47. |
|
EL BASTARDO/ SLOMATICS - split
(???) - 3e, 180 den.
Slomatics debut on vinyl here - along with El Bastardo - a track from
each band. Slomatics are some guys that were previously in the mighty
Naut and are from Belfast. They're more of a sludge laden Floor inspired
creation than a speed feuled Sabbath attack that were The Naut, and
lay out one track here (Pity the fool) that signifies why they are
rated one of the most respected and talked about bands to emerge from
the scene here in years.Pelican style dynamics and atmosphere with
a heavy edge. El Bastardo can do now wrong in my book, this track
is already a classic at the Rimbaud recs HQ, as it was previously
on their probably impossible to get/so fuckin sorry you missed it
are'nt ya? demo that kicked most ass from here to sunday. 'Dead at
30, Buried at 60' is one crushing piece of angry agro rock. You really
need to check this shit out. They release an album later this year
thats definately going to be in the top 5 rocking yet fucking with
your head in an offensive way albums of the year. |

den.
Two of Swedens most underrated D-beat bands shares a pice of plastic.
Reign of Bombs more american influenced but with there feets still
in Sweden, State of Fear and Totalitär kind of, people often
also mentions that they are sounding like a good combination of Consume,
Born/Dead and Sunday Morning Einsteins. Bombstrike on the other hand

In Sweden" we are speaking about high quality Swedish Hardcore
in the same style as Skitsytem and Wolfbrigade. Get this Now if you

|
THE FREEZE - "i hate tourists"
(SCHIZOPHRENIC) - 6e, 360 den.
Schizophrenic Records has graced the masses with the re-issue of the
classic 1980 single "I Hate Tourists". The A-side is played
in a much more new wave style than their later, more hardcore tunes,
while the B-side "Don't Forget Me Tommy" is more of a Ramones-influenced
number. |
|
FUCKED UP - "dangerous fumes"
(HATE) - 3.5e, 200 den.
This new single features two new tracks one of which is exclusive
to this release and bound to cause a little commotion over its lyrical
contents. Without getting into too many details, the song tackles
one of society’s biggest taboos in that ‘fucked up’
kinda of way. Actually, it really doesn’t ‘tackle’
the subject at all but does definitely bring attention to it without
taking a clear stand on the issue. "Dangerous Fumes" continues
where their "Litany" 7" ep left off - killer hardcore
punk. |
|

one of the very best releases on local scene. The members of the band
are well known individuals who have played throughout the years in
many bands incl. KNIFE IN THE LEG, BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, THE BLACK
TAPES, SIX PACK, DAYMARES or SUNRISE. Years of experience lead them
straight to an uncompromising sound influenced by early 80s hardcore
with their own approach and vibe - fast, tight and rockin'. |
